Pins and Parrots

The two cockatiels have decided to help me finish the Rainbow Quilters 25th Anniversay Quilt.  I am busy sewing on 200 petals, and they found the yellow headed pins.
I gave up sewing for the rest of the day.  They would empty the pin container, then discover the pins on the quilt.
Just one at a time

I would pick up all the pins,  put the birds back at the pin container, and repeat.

The joys of being a crazy bird lady!

New Job - Bird Masseuse

Tighe's bird "Total"
Quinn's bird "Kenway"
Total and Kenway are now 12 weeks old.  They eat silverbeet and kale like good birds.
They also make tiny "peep peep" chirps when they want their head rubbed.  It is itchy where the new feathers are growing, so I get to massause their tiny heads.
It is a real privilege to be able to touch their heads.  They bow in front of me, and wait so trustingly, and make wonderful chirping noises when I find the right spot.  I am now a crazy bird lady.

Two birds

Quinn and Tighe have been waiting nearly a year for these birds.  They saved up their pocket money, only to discover that it was the wrong time of year for cockatiel chicks.
All through Winter they waited.  In Spring the boys picked out a little house for the birds.  Finally, just before the end of December, they arrived!  9 weeks old, and adorable.
We had to continue to feed them with a spoon.  Now, they are eating potato, broccoli, marrow, and kale.  Soon it will be kumara.
