The largest mudpool near Waiotapu.  Great for Sophia to hear the boiling mud, and see the steam.

The thermal stream at Kerosene creek, is a great place to spend a cold afternoon.

The urchins enjoy standing under the waterfall, and being massaged by the warm water.

Tighe loved being in the bubbles created by the waterfall, he would float away on the current.

Looking down the stream, the steam kept rising, and it was deliciously warm.

Further up the stream, towards the carpark, is a mini cascade.  This is my favourite part of Kerosene Creek.

Mud Pools

Sometimes, it is just nice to go and play tourist in your backyard.  Went South of Rotorua to the Mud Pool.  It's about 25 minutes drive.  The smell is something I still haven't got used too, even after 20 years in Rotorua.  The landscape was monochome, very grey. But then brilliant blue or green would appear, reflecting the sky or trees.  The sound of bubbly porridge springs to mind in this area.  We took our time, and explored the side tracks, and got different views of the boiling mud.
