Off the deep end

There was time for one last snorkel before we started having to pack up and go back to New Zealand.

The differences between above the sea, and below the water.

These fish hung around the shore line, we would watch them from the beach.

Erik went a little deeper than I did.  He saw Banner fish, snapper, as well as the usual suspects.

Schools of fish hid in this gap between the coral gardens.

Off the beach, Moso Island

The water was a little murky, the fish friendly, and the coral brightly coloured. 

Sea Slug

A relaxing way to spend the afternoon off Moso Island.

Erik and I snorkelled around the rock, and enjoyed the outcrops of coral, and the accompanying fishes.

Schools of fish darted in and out of the coral.

The water was deliciously warm, and the formations of coral fascinated me.

 This coral was shaped like small air bubbles ready to rise to the surface.  Really cool!

 Oscar, Quinn, Tighe, and Anneke also enjoyed the snorkelling, and the fish.

Fish and Clams

Most of the day was spent in or around the water.  Tighe saw a lion fish, and Erik and I saw a yellow trumpet fish.  We went out deep to the reefs edge (90m) and snorkelled.  Lots of different fish, anemone fish, and clams.  The water was cold out at the reefs edge.

 The water was clear, and the fish friendly.  The coral has been damaged, but beautiful.

Another type of trumpet fish, I swam with a school of them.

 Moorish Idols.  My favourite.  I swam with this group while they explored the reef.

 

I dont know what these are, some sort of Anemone maybe.  They are like tiny trees.

 We went out on the coral safari at noon, the water was deeper, and Oscar and Tighe found it too cold.  Great variety of fish.

Out at the reefs edge, it drops of about 90m.  Larger fish are out here.

 The green on this fish fascinated me.  I had not seen this fish before.
