The children are fans of the Lord of the Rings, and now The Hobbit. We travelled up to Hamilton in the evening to watch the midnight release of the final installment The Battle of the Five Armies.
The Awa mall was empty, except for a few Hobbit fans. The release date in the USA was 17 December, so the urchins were pleased to be some of the first in the world to see the final movie.
Unfortunately I haven't read the book, so some of the lack of continuity didn't make sense to me, but on the drive home at 3 oclock in the morning, the rest of the family explained the bits I didn't understand. I did like Smaug though. Disappointed he had such a small part in this movie.
