Bikes and Planes

Tighe on a children sized Pennyfarthing
Quinn giving it a go
I got to ride a Pennyfarthing today.  It's a lot harder than it looks.  First I needed to scoot along with my foot, and then stand up and sit on the high seat.  There are no brakes, so stopping was not elegant.  Ok, it was glorified "falling off".

Managed to get both Quinn and Tighe the same rego numbers that they had last year.

Quinn's number
We were all very keen to Ride the Runway, and I wanted to get at least 2 laps in the hour.
Waiting at the front of the long long long long long long line of riders
We were last onto the Runway last year, and only got one lap in the time allocated for family riding.

Erik decided to use his Tour Aotearoa bike, fully loaded.
The headwind was amazing!
At the other end, looking South
1300 other riders joined us, all different types of bikes.  So many smiling faces.  Happiness all around.
Bridget
Bridget, Peter, and Carenza came down from Hamilton, and Carenza was keen.  I think she rode the furthest and fastest of us all!
Quinn, Tighe and I managed 3 laps (12km) in the hour.  Oscar got tired, so Erik lended a helping hand.
