On the way we stopped at Levenworth and Greenwich, on a super steep street and walked to an even more steep street.
Lombard Street on Russian Hill. Even though it was early in the morning there were lots of visitors.
Greenwich street leads the way to Telegraph hill and the Coit Tower.
The road into the city had it's ups and downs, the streets are steep. We parked in O'Farrell/Ellis st parking building. Easy access to the Union Square shopping boutiques.
The shops don't open until 10 or 11am. There was plenty of the sweet herbal fragrance around Union Square.
Neiman Marcus is a beautiful department store. The cupola is a glorious stained glass window.
Walking along the streets, people watching, and deciding which boutiques to visit was a great way for the urchins to explore the Union Square environs.
Inside the Nike Store |
The Apple Store was mostly glass, and had the latest phones on display.
Macy's wasn't too expensive, and provided a view of Union Square.Had an expensive lunch, $US71, in the cafe near the palm trees. Calzoni, sandwiches, pastries, and drinks.
The cable cars clattered by while we ate.
Shopping in the area is expensive. Lots of designer stores. The urchins liked Gucci and Louis Vuitton. I think having a doorman make shopping a pleasure, and more stores should have one. In Bvlgari, we had our own personal assistant (for security reasons probably), and he thought we were from Australia.
Marchesa $US6000 |
$US8,000 Oscar de la Renta |
