Living in Muir Beach is peaceful. There are about 300 inhabitants, no shops, a quiet cove, and it is situated in the heart of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and a few kms from Muir Woods.

The streets are named after characters in Moby Dick, and the Barrel is at the end of Starbuck Drive.

Architectural styles are different from New Zealand, and the house prices in the area are in the $US 2 million plus range.
The walk up the hill to Seascape Drive stretched my legs after my city driving.
The hills in the area have great walking and mountain bike trails.
This house is for sale, $US 8 million.
Most of the houses featured Redwood, and different angles and roof lines.
The walk down the shared bicycle park provided great views of the ocean, and San Francisco in the distance.

The best part, is the beach is only a few minutes walk away.
