Mummies - Egyptian Museum - San Jose

The Museum has separate wings for different interests. The Mummy wing was fascinating.
These images were produced on papyrus, prior to being attached to the outside or finished part of the Mummy.
 Coffins were eleborately decorated.
Coffins were decorated on the inside as well.
Some of the coffins were painted with exquiste detail on the outside.
The Egyptians also mummified animals and these were placed in the tomb to honour the Gods.
The mummified animals also had their own coffins.
Sometimes I wasn't sure what the animals was.  This one is a mummifed cat.
As part of the Mummy display, there was a replica of Tutankhamun's burial pieces.
Detail of Tutankhaman' lower part of the coffin.
King Tut's Death Mask
Detail of the back of the coffin.
