East Peak Mt Tamalpais

Mount Tamalpais State Park is on our doorstep. Today we explored the East Peak.
A windy road to the car park, and a fee of US$8 to be in the State Park.
The first part of the trail is an old railway plank broadwalk.

The trail became more rugged as we wound around the peak.
The colours are more muted, muddy greens and browns.

Looking North towards San Pablo marshlands.
Northwest and the hills are brown.
East towards Richmond, Oakland, and Berkley, with Mt Diablo in the background.
South over Mill Valley and San Francisco.

Plenty of rocks to climb on for the urchins, but it was windy!

The route was about 1km, and with all the exploring, took maybe half an hour to get to the peak.
Sitting on a rock, looking out into the Bay of San Francisco.

Pink gorse?
There is an operational ranger station at the peak, to keep a lookout for Fires.
The urchins chose the steep path to get back to the car park.
