Stingrays, butterflies and Rollercoasters

Expensive day.  Took the urchins to an Amusement Park in Vallejo, about 1 1/2 hours drive North from Muir Beach.
Called Discovery Kingdom, there are South African Penguins, stingrays, seals, snakes, sharks, bats, giraffes, lions, tigers, cougar, wolf, and dolphins, as well as the usual rollercoasters, and amusement rides.
After washing our hands, the stingrays were available to be stroked.  Small enclosure for 3 stingrays.
The shark experience was great, and the sharks were up close.
A small aquarium with other exotic fish swam with the sharks.
The "teacup" ride was fun, and Tighe and I didn't get motion sickness which was a bonus.
Oscar decided rollercoasters were more his cup of tea, so he went on three!
Tighe tried another centrifugal ride, but got motion sickness. We decided to look at the animal enclosures instead.
The butterfly house was our meeting point with Oscar.  Lots of exotic butterflies.

Seeing these blue butterflies from Costa Rica was enchanting.
Snakes were more interesting, and there were a variety of pythons and rattle snakes.
The colours and patterns on the snakes were intriguing.

Sometimes the rides were more simpler, but Tighe and I still got motion sick.

Another enclosure had bats and tortoises - Chimi and Changa.
Look at the claw on the bat, supports the whole animal.
The "Monsoon Falls" was next.  A simple ride that cools everyone off. Waiting in the queue for 3/4 hour.
Hot day, so the urchins stayed cool for the rest of the day.
Bumper cars were exciting, and the queue was about half an hour.

Tighe didn't get motion sickness here, so all the urchins had a good time.

Oscar decided to go on another ride on the Joker rollercoaster.  We went and watched the stingrays.
US$50 per person, US$25 parking, and US$60 for an unsatisfying snack of Passionfruit ice, churros, and popcorn.  We were going to have pizza, but it was US$12 a slice!
Walking back to the carpark, our feet were tired. We had seen most of the attractions, decided the queues were too long for some of the rides. The park was a mix of thrill rides, fair ground attactions, fun fair, and zoo.

Fun fact: Cougers can't roar, unlike African lions
Decided to finish the day off, by having McDonalds at a Walmart in American Canyon. Discovered that $1 burgers are $1.08 including tax!
Tighe tried to convince me to bring the toy BMW car back to NZ.
