Exploring Ulaanbaatar- & Hotel - Mongolia

Inside a boring concrete building is the State Department Store.  Built in the 1920s, the interior has Art Deco details. However, it feels just like an upmarket department store anywhere in the world.  Cashmere is on display as well as other luxury goods.

Started to get hungry so we wandered the streets looking for food.

3002 means food. Just wander in and it's street food.

Lots to choose from, except we didn't know what we were ordering, so we just pointed.
$NZ is half the Mongolian Ttögrög or Tugrik.
Piroshki meal with Fanta T9t00
Mutton filled dough. Kinda like a pie.
Mutton meatballs with potato salad, rice and dumplings T9500 plus an apple Fanta.

Walking back to the hotel we passed by Sükhbaatar Square again. This is looking west.
This building is the State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
I really like the juxtaposition of different architectural styles in Ulaanbaatar.
This is the "Wedding Palace", a place to hold a wedding ceremony and celebration.

Our hotel the Bayangol. We were on the 5th floor of Tower A. The dome shaped building is one of the restaurants.
This is the breakfast room.
View from our room. Yes that is a rollercoaster in the park.
